Lantern Inn

Lovely small inn close to Mt Rushmore. Very nice and caring staff. Super clean rooms with crisp clean linens and very comfortable beds and pillows. Highly recommend!

We were in town for the Crazy Horse half marathon and the Lantern Inn was a perfect host for our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and the Inn is within walking distance of downtown eating and shopping.

Our UTV club stayed there for a week. It was perfect! The rooms were very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the room had everything you needed. It is a family owned business and they treated us like family. They went above and beyond making sure our every need was met. One night they even hosted a taco bar feeding everyone at the hotel. Afterwards they set up a fire pit in the parking lot and everyone sat in a circle laughing, talking and enjoying the night. We had 10 trucks with trailers (some extra long) and they made sure we all had a space to park. As for location, it couldn’t be better. It’s within walking distance of the downtown area, museums, restaurants and directly across the street from a very large grocery store. We were sad to go and would without a doubt stay there again!!

The Lantern Inn is the perfect place to stay when visiting Hill City. It is close to Mt Rushmore, Custer, Crazy Horse, Needles Hwy and all the other spots of interest. Julie and Nick are the perfect hosts who go out of their way to make sure your stay with them is perfect. Room was exceptionally clean. Pillows and bed were uber comfortable. Towels were nice and fluffy. Temps were in the 90's and the conditioner kept the room nice and cool. Refrigerator kept our food nice and cold and the freezer kept our cold packs frozen. Krulls Market is directly across the street which is great because we were able to get fresh deli sandwiches and other items for our adventures in the various parks and such. Julie was so kind when we had to leave early due to an emergency back home but rest assured and the good Lord willing we are hopeful we will be back! Thanks Julie and Nick you guys are the BEST!

Great hotel with a great location. This is a family owned hotel not a chain hotel where you get terrible service. The owners are awsome people and are very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Walking distance to everything in Hill City. Grocery store and liquor store across the street. Our favorite part was the red chairs by the road. Great place to have a drink and people watch/vehicle watch.

We stayed At the lantern Inn, as it was a good central location for us to visit Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, the Badlands, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse Memorial. It is a great family owned Inn. The owner (Laura) was extremely helpful in providing us tips on Best ways to get to the locations we wanted to go to, recommendations on shops And restaurants in the area, as well as being an extremely pleasant host! The Inn is a very short walk to Hill city Main Street! The rooms are very nice, clean, and updated. We highly recommend if you’re planning stay in this part of the state, that you put the Lantern Inn on the top of your places to stay.

We stayed at Lantern Inn September 8 & 9. This little gem was perfectly located near Rushmore & Custer State Park. Lantern Inn met all our criteria: very clean room, very comfortable beds, refrigerator, microwave, and shower. The property is very well maintained. We were the last to arrive and the front desk held our parking spot open for us in front of our room door. A grocery store is across the street which was very convenient with restaurants nearby. Highly recommend for your lodging in Hill City.

Great place to stay in Hill City. It’s right off the main road and right across the street from a grocery store if you need to pop over for snacks or something. The best part of this hotel would be the owners! Our last night in town, our side by side broke down and the owner drove a few miles out of town to pick us up and gave us a ride back to our truck! I recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Hill City. 10 out of 10!
